Hackney Council Has Launched its First-Ever Nightlife Strategy
Briefly

The Good Evening Hackney strategy has been launched to enhance safety and inclusivity in the borough during night-time hours. It includes initiatives like welfare pop-ups providing free safety resources such as water, contraceptives, and phone charging. A 'Hackney Nights' map has been developed to help visitors find safe routes, public toilets, and night transport. Venues can achieve accreditation for staff training focused on drink spiking prevention and managing noise, fostering a better night-time economy for local residents and businesses, as noted by Cllr Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE.
The Good Evening Hackney strategy has been created to make the neighbourhood safer and more inclusive, with welfare pop-ups already happening in Shoreditch.
A 'Hackney Nights' map has also been created as part of the strategy, helping visitors navigate the borough after dark by highlighting things like night transport options, public toilets and safe routes.
Venues are also able to sign up for accreditation for this, enabling their staff to receive training, especially around drink spiking prevention and noise reduction advice.
Cllr Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE stated that the strategy aims to ensure local residents and businesses benefit from Hackney's evening economy while maintaining safety and inclusivity.
