Volunteers at a community garden in central London have been reuniting phone theft victims with their stolen devices after finding them buried in flower beds. The Phoenix Garden, off Shaftesbury Avenue in Covent Garden, has become a temporary stash location because of its proximity to the West End. Volunteers regularly collect phones from bushes and flowerbeds and hand them to owners who track their devices or to police. Some phones have been wrapped in tin foil to block tracking. Snatchers, often on electric bikes near hotspots like Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road, appear to drop devices in the garden for later collection. Staff sometimes charge phones or contact emergency numbers to locate owners.
