Baby bank issues plea for nappies amid shortage
Briefly

Baby banks operated by Little Village in London have completely run out of baby wipes and newborn nappies. This shortage is affecting locations in Camden, Tooting, Brent, and Wandsworth. The charity reported a significant increase in demand, supporting over 7,300 children last year. Donations are urgently needed for newborn and size one nappies, as well as baby wipes. From January to June 2025, Little Village provided 64% more packs of nappies compared to the same period in 2024. Families are struggling financially, facing tough choices to meet basic needs for their children.
"Tomorrow a parent may have to choose between buying food or keeping their baby clean and dry no family should face that kind of impossible decision. Nappies are not a luxury; they are a necessity."
"I meet families who are doing everything they can but still don't have enough in their pockets to cover the most essential items for their baby. It breaks my heart hearing stories of mums and dads having to resort to nappy and formula rationing."
