Wan-Bissaka and Wissa in DR Congo World Cup squad
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Yoane Wissa were selected for DR Congo’s World Cup squad. Wan-Bissaka, born in Croydon, previously represented England at Under-21 level and was called into the senior squad in 2019 without appearing. He switched international allegiance to DR Congo in August 2025 and has earned nine caps. Wissa, who has faced form and injury issues since joining Newcastle from Brentford, was included after being omitted from Newcastle’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad. Axel Tuanzebe and Rocky Bushiri were also named, with Bushiri carrying a suspected Achilles injury. Edo Kayembe and Noah Sadiki were selected in midfield, and Gael Kakuta was recalled despite limited recent appearances. DR Congo are drawn in Group K against Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan.
