Donnie Freeman, a versatile 6-foot-9 forward, has committed to St. John's after transferring from Syracuse. He averaged 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds as a sophomore and was an honorable mention All-ACC player. Freeman's freshman season was impacted by injuries, but he still posted 13.4 points and 7.9 rebounds. St. John's coach Rick Pitino successfully recruited Freeman, who will join the starting frontcourt next season. He is the first transfer addition for the Red Storm, who are also pursuing Arizona State transfer Massamba Diop.
