LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo is disappointed yet proud following a 3-3 draw against the Portland Timbers, spurred by frustration over two VAR offside decisions that cost his team two goals. Despite being sent off for showing discontent towards officiating, Cherundolo praised his players for their resilience and claimed they deserved a better outcome. Meanwhile, St. Louis City managed to halt their losing streak with a goalless draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps, providing them a solid foundation ahead of their match against LAFC this weekend.
I couldn't be more proud of my team's performance. They showed a lot of grit, resilience and quality. They played excellently and deserved much more, but unfortunately it wasn't.
It was a game where the officials, with their decisions, decide games and, from an LAFC perspective, in a negative way. We were told that officials were to keep their flags down when it is close and VAR would make the right call. It didn't happen.
