Glasner urges Crystal Palace to win final and take up rightful Europa League place
Crystal Palace will play Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final in Leipzig, aiming to win a Europa League spot denied earlier this season due to UEFA multi-club ownership rules. Last year’s FA Cup winners were demoted to the Conference League after UEFA determined John Textor had a controlling interest in Crystal Palace and Lyon, which had also qualified for the secondary competition. Oliver Glasner, who will leave at season’s end, said players held a farewell party for him and he urged them to win a third trophy in 12 months. He linked a victory to building desire and confidence for European competition next season. Palace are considering Andoni Iraola as his replacement, with Pierre Sage also viewed as a possible option.
"This would make me really happy because then I think we created a mindset all together where at the end it's always successful. That doesn't mean that you win a trophy every single year but at the end you will always get the best out of every single player. That's why I hope that we win tomorrow and these players can play European football again next year."
