During a Scottish Premiership play-off match between Ross County and Livingston, tensions escalated after a fan allegedly spat at a County assistant coach, Carl Tremarco, following a last-minute penalty equalizer. County manager Don Cowie denounced the act as unacceptable, highlighting the need for club accountability. Both Cowie and the club's chief executive expressed their determination to address the incident, while Livingston's manager, David Martindale, lamented the behavior and promised a thorough investigation. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with the teams set to meet again for the return leg.
"One of their fans overstepped the mark by spitting on our assistant manager's face. There is no place for that," Cowie told BBC Scotland.
"Livingston have been first class, they have CCTV here so they'll identify who it was and take action," said County manager Don Cowie.
"It's vile. Disgusting. Really, really disappointing," said Livingston manager David Martindale regarding the reported spitting incident.
"When it happens, our staff members want to protect each other because it's a disgusting thing to happen," Cowie explained.
