During the debate, Biden appeared lethargic and made confusing remarks, including a statement about border policy that Trump mocked. The debate led many Democratic lawmakers to urge Biden to drop out, which he did less than a month later, and he was replaced by Kamala Harris.
"“I wasn't horrified, I was frightened,” Biden said. “Because I had never, ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never.” Braver followed up by asking, “Or since? You've never seen him like that?” Biden replied, “Never.” Braver then asked, “What happened?” Biden answered, “I don't know what happened.” She added that while watching, she thought, “Oh my God, he's having a stroke. And it scared me to death.”"
