Javier Milei's right-wing party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), achieved a surprising victory in Buenos Aires' local elections, outperforming Argentina's main conservative party and the left-leaning Peronist party. With 30.1% of the vote, the LLA has solidified its role as a significant opposition force while highlighting dissatisfaction with the Peronist rule. Although turnout was low at 53%, Milei's celebration indicated a shift in public sentiment toward his approaches, particularly in combating economic issues linked to Kirchnerism, which has faced criticism for its governance and economic management.
Milei celebrated the win of the LLA candidate, Manuel Adorni, who is also his spokesperson, by jumping up on stage and waving his arms as rock music played.
What this election yielded is that society understands we're the best way to end Kirchnerism for good, which was nothing but a tragedy for Argentina.
