German Football Federation investigating racism at Cup games DW 08/18/2025
Briefly

Two German Cup matches faced temporary stoppages over allegations of racist abuse. FIFA president Gianni Infantino condemned the incidents. The German Football Federation (DFB) announced it would investigate the occurrences at both matches. Schalke's match against Lokomotiv Leipzig saw a brief suspension when player Christopher Antwi-Adjei confronted fans over racist language. He reported the incident, expressing disappointment at the ongoing racism in football. In a separate game, a visiting player at Eintracht Stahnsdorf was targeted but the match continued after quick identification of the perpetrator.
The supervisory committee is investigating the incidents and initiating investigations against the respective clubs, a spokesman for the DFB told Germany's DPA news agency on Monday.
The match was interrupted for around three minutes. The stadium announcer then urged supporters to refrain from using racist or discriminatory language.
It's not acceptable, not in this day and age, not at all. I don't want to repeat the words that were used, but it's disappointing.
The perpetrator was identified quickly with the help of spectators and security at the Karl Liebknecht Stadium in Potsdam.
