Law librarians have traditionally been knowledge managers, responsible for accessing and managing vital information for legal matters. Historically, they utilized systems like the Dewey Decimal System to navigate physical libraries. However, advancements in AI, particularly in natural language processing, may shift this knowledge control away from humans, providing universal access through AI platforms. As firms face financial limitations, the roles of law librarians may be increasingly viewed as potentially replaceable by AI, despite their adaptability in transitioning to virtual libraries that employ modern search tools.
