"Howard "Howie" Rubin, a once-prominent Salomon Brothers investment banker featured in the 1985 Wall Street expose "Liar's Poker," must remain in a federal jail in Brooklyn indefinitely as he fights sex-trafficking charges, a judge ruled on Wednesday. It was the third bail denial for Rubin, accused of paying women, many of them former Playboy models, $5,000 to engage in "fetish play," then constraining and torturing them, including by electrocuting them against their will."

Howard "Howie" Rubin, 70, remains held without bail in a federal Brooklyn jail while he fights a 10-count sex-trafficking indictment. The indictment alleges attacks on 10 Jane Does between 2009 and 2019 in luxury hotels and a soundproofed bedroom 'sex dungeon' at his Manhattan penthouse, including constraining, torturing, and electrocution. Prosecutors allege he paid many women, including former Playboy models, $5,000 for fetish play. Magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo denied bail again, citing a $70 million Cayman Islands account and significant flight risk. Rubin pleaded not guilty, offered a $70 million bond, and contends encounters were consensual and ended in 2019.
