"A company director being pursued for €765,000 following the collapse of her packaging firm has been using artificial intelligence to "churn out reams" of legal papers, the High Court has heard."
"One AI-assisted affidavit filed by Jackie Brady cited case law that did not exist, a lawyer for the liquidator of AB Group Packaging Ireland Limited said."
AB Group Packaging Ireland Limited collapsed, and its liquidator is pursuing a company director for €765,000. The director has used artificial intelligence to produce large volumes of legal documents in response to the claim. One affidavit prepared with AI attributed to Jackie Brady included citations to case law that did not exist. A lawyer representing the liquidator informed the High Court of the AI-assisted documents and the erroneous legal references. The liquidator is challenging the director's filings and the integrity of the cited legal authorities. Proceedings continue in the High Court.
