WilmerHale, a prominent law firm, is contesting Donald Trump's executive orders that specifically target its operations. Recently, the firm disclosed that two of its lawyers had their security clearances suspended due to these orders. Attorney Paul Clement emphasized that this reflects the Executive Branch's intent to enforce the orders without judicial restraint. While parts of the executive order were previously halted by Judge Richard Leon, he permitted the security clearance review to proceed. WilmerHale is among four firms actively challenging Trumpâs orders in court.
"This development underscores that the Executive Branch stands ready and willing to implement the Executive Order absent judicial intervention," said Paul Clement, underscoring the executive branch's decisiveness.
Judge Richard Leon has allowed a review of WilmerHale employees' security clearances to go forward but previously blocked other parts of Trump's executive order.
