Tuskegee basketball coach who was handcuffed by police after game files $1m lawsuit
"The lawsuit claims Taylor was handcuffed and detained when he insisted the officers enforce security protocols for the postgame handshake line mandated by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference."
"Daniels said Taylor has suffered stress, elevated blood pressure, hair loss and also reputational harm. This is going to be the stigma surrounding him the rest of his career."
Benjy Taylor, the Tuskegee men's basketball coach, filed a lawsuit against Morehouse College and two campus police officers for over $1 million in damages. The lawsuit claims Taylor suffered emotional, physical, and reputational harm after being handcuffed and escorted off the court during a game on January 31. Taylor had requested the removal of taunting Morehouse football players, but the officers allegedly failed to act. The SIAC fined Morehouse for not meeting security standards, but Taylor's attorney stated he has experienced significant stress and health issues as a result.
