"SAN FRANCISCO -- Disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has asked the Trump administration to commute her prison sentence, according to the U.S. Justice Department's Office of the Pardon Attorney. Former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes leaves federal court in San Jose, Calif., March 17, 2023."
"ABC News has reached out to her attorneys and the DOJ for comment. According to the Office of the Pardon Attorney's website, the request was filed sometime in 2025 and its status is currently "pending," meaning it's under review. "The details about a specific case's review cannot be shared," the website states. Holmes' release date is currently Dec. 30, 2031, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons' website."
"Holmes unsuccessfully fought to delay her incarceration after she was found guilty of investor fraud and conspiracy in 2022. Last year, an appeals court upheld the fraud convictions, sentences and $452 million restitution order for Holmes and her second-in-command, Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, who was also found guilty of fraud and conspiracy."
