"The Justice Department and a handful of states have accepted settlements with the company, but the majority of the 40 state and district attorney general plaintiffs - as of now - are continuing their fight in court. The states that are pressing forward withdrew their motion for a mistrial, filed after the DOJ announced its settlement in court Monday, and showed up with new outside counsel to lead their trial team in the absence of the federal litigators."
"The judge also said that jurors will be allowed to see internal chats between Live Nation employees who bragged about how they "gouge" fans, overruling opposition from the company."
The Live Nation-Ticketmaster antitrust trial resumed after a brief pause caused by the Department of Justice's settlement announcement. While the DOJ and a few states accepted settlements, approximately 40 state and district attorneys general are proceeding with their lawsuit alleging concert industry monopoly practices. The states withdrew their mistrial motion and hired new outside counsel to replace departing federal litigators. Judge Arun Subramanian approved the admission of internal company communications showing employees discussing how they "gouge" fans. During Friday's brief hearing, the judge addressed trial logistics and exhibit orders while the former DOJ team transferred necessary case information to the continuing states' legal team.
