The suspect then used a credit card in the wallet to make a fraudulent purchase totaling approximately $107."

Identity theft: On Jan. 21, a Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal identifying information to obtain a car insurance policy, and the victim received a bill for approximately $2,000."
"Jan. 23 Theft by false pretenses: On Jan. 23, a Saratoga resident reported that someone contacted them acting as a tech support employee, tricked the victim into providing access to their computer account and obtained the victim's personal information, which was then used to access their credit card account, where fraudulent transactions were made. The victim disputed the charges, and no financial loss was reported."
Between Jan. 18 and Jan. 23, multiple crimes were reported in Saratoga, including vandalism, vehicle burglaries, mail theft, identity theft and fraud. Between Jan. 18–20 a vehicle window on Myren Drive was broken, causing over $400 in damage. Between Jan. 19–20 a vehicle on Fortuna Court was broken into; a laptop, headphones and wallet were stolen (loss about $2,330) and a credit card was fraudulently used for $107. Between Jan. 20–21 a vehicle on Harleigh Drive was broken into and a sleeping bag worth ~$10 was stolen. On Jan. 21 an identity theft produced a $2,000 insurance bill. On Jan. 23 a tech-support scam gained computer access and led to disputed credit card charges; no financial loss reported.
