"significant and very severe"
Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, 38, faces a level-five felony battery charge after an altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver left the man with significant and very severe injuries. The felony charge could carry one to six years in prison. Initial misdemeanor charges included battery resulting in injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication. Indianapolis police filed a second probable cause affidavit after receiving additional medical information about the victim. The incident occurred late Friday into early Saturday in an alley outside a downtown Indianapolis hotel. The investigation remains ongoing, search warrants are outstanding, and additional charges are possible; an initial hearing was postponed to Nov. 4.
