"Gardaí said the incident took place in the Blanchardstown area when a car failed to stop when directed to do so. With patrol vehicles in pursuit, a stinger device was then successfully deployed against the offending car, deflating a number of its tyres. The car then continued before colliding with a number of Garda patrol vehicles. The offending car was then successfully prevented from entering the wrong way onto the N3 dual carriageway before it was brought to a stop."
""Protecting public safety and delivering good policing outcomes requires a combination of skill and precision, quick thinking and fearlessness. "The courage and professionalism of members of An Garda Síochána attached to Blanchardstown, Cabra and Finglas that worked together as a team during last night's incident, brought it to a safe conclusion because they exhibited their strong knowledge and expert training. "This response demonstrates that Gardaí are more determined than ever, to protect the public and apprehend those that endanger the communities we serve.""

A stinger device was deployed, deflating several tyres, but the car continued, collided with multiple Garda patrol vehicles and attempted to enter the N3 dual carriageway the wrong way before being stopped. The driver was arrested and is detained at a Dublin Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Three Garda cars were damaged and no injuries were reported. Michael McNulty, chief superintendent of Blanchardstown Garda Station, praised the courage, professionalism, skill and determination of the Gardaí involved.
