A 38-year-old man pleaded guilty to stealing a phone from a sleeping woman in a hospital waiting room. The offence occurred on January 15, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. At 5.20am, he entered the A&E Department waiting room, sat beside the woman, and reached into her handbag to take a €300 Samsung Galaxy phone. The defendant was not present when the case was called. He had 31 previous convictions. The judge told his solicitor that he must return to court on June 22 with €300, or he would be sent to prison.
