Karen Read's lawsuit against investigators, witnesses alleging cover-up moves to federal court
"direct the investigation away from themselves, and towards Ms. Read"
"The case is a vengeful abuse of the judicial process,"
"ongoing and malicious attempt to evade responsibility for the death of John O'Keefe by smearing and defaming witnesses who participated in the prosecution of her."
Karen Read filed a civil lawsuit alleging investigators allowed witnesses to redirect the investigation and frame her for the 2022 death of her boyfriend, Boston officer John O'Keefe. The suit names State Police Sgt. Yuriy Bukhenik, former Trooper Michael Proctor, Lt. Brian Tully, Brian and Nicole Albert, Jennifer and Matthew McCabe, and Brian Higgins. The case was originally filed in Bristol Superior Court on Nov. 17 and was removed to U.S. District Court of Massachusetts after notice of removal by attorney James Tuxbury. The removal cited a federal civil rights claim alleging Fourth Amendment violations and called the lawsuit a vengeful abuse of the judicial process.
