Judge dismisses crypto suit against Cuban, Mavs
"We couldn't be more pleased with the absolute right result,"
"I suspect that the plaintiffs will consider filing in another jurisdiction. ... I look forward to defending Mark and the Mavericks in any jurisdiction in this country."
"Mark doesn't settle when he believes he is on the right side of the law."
A federal judge in the Southern District of Florida dismissed the 2022 lawsuit against Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks, finding plaintiffs failed to establish personal jurisdiction. Plaintiffs alleged Cuban induced them to open interest-bearing Voyager accounts after he said he had personally invested and after a Mavericks tweet offered $100 in Bitcoin for new users who deposited $100 and made a trade. Cuban's attorneys argued he warned people to be careful, that the Voyager assets were not securities, and that the Florida court lacked jurisdiction. Several celebrity defendants settled, and Cuban later sold his majority stake to Miriam Adelson.
