Idaho man who threatened his hacking victims appeals his sentence in Georgia - DataBreaches.Net
Briefly

"Back in 2016-2018 when threat actors known as thedarkoverlord ("TDO") were hacking entities and attempting to extort their victims by sending them emails with details about their family members and threats of what would happen if the victims didn't pay up, a man in Meridian Idaho who called himself "Lifelock" or "Studemaster" was doing the same thing: buying access to medical practices and entities, hacking and exfiltrating data, and then sending threatening emails to his victims and the victims' patients or children."
"Robert Purbeck was raided by the FBI in August 2019 and indicted in 2021. After making numerous unsuccessful attempts in different courts to get evidence suppressed or thrown out, he pleaded guilty in March 2024 to two counts of the original 11-count indictment. The plea deal made with the prosecution required the prosecutors to recommend a 70-month sentence, which would be on the lowest end of sentencing guidelines for his offense level. Upon release from prison, there would be three years of supervised release."
