A New Mexico judge has ruled that certain records from the investigation into the deaths of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, can be made public, excluding sensitive autopsy photos. While the court permits the release of some redacted videos and other records, the autopsy reports remain confidential to ensure the couple's privacy. The couple was discovered dead in their Santa Fe home in February, with investigations confirming their deaths resulted from natural causes. The decision followed legal arguments from multiple parties regarding the release of these records.
Although the court allowed some records from the Hackmans' death investigation to be released, it firmly decided against the public disclosure of their autopsy photos.
Judge Matthew Wilson ruled that blurred videos of the Hackman couple's mummified bodies are permissible for release, provided they do not clearly show their bodies.
