Former MMA fighter Charlie Ward fails to appear in court for damages claim over collision with garda car
"Judge Paula Murphy was told by Charlie Ward's barrister Eileen McAuley, just before the contested trial was due to open, that his solicitor had received a last-minute text from Ward stating that he was sick and unable to attend."
A former mixed martial arts fighter did not appear at Circuit Civil Court on Wednesday to prosecute a €60,000 personal injuries claim against the Garda Commissioner. Judge Paula Murphy was informed by the plaintiff's barrister, Eileen McAuley, moments before the contested trial was scheduled to begin, that the solicitor had received a last-minute text message from the fighter stating he was sick and unable to attend court. The absence occurred just as proceedings were about to commence.
