Former Santa Clara Councilmember Anthony Becker has filed an appeal in his felony perjury case in response to a guilty verdict reached by jurors in December 2024. Becker was convicted of leaking a Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury report prior to its official release and subsequently lying about it. Following a monthlong trial, he was sentenced to 40 days in a county sheriff's work program. His lawyers have requested a probable cause certificate and the assignment of an appellate public defender to support the appeal process.
