"The co-owners of a Bay Area private security company will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution after pleading guilty to felony wage theft and insurance premium fraud, prosecutors said. Ferooz and Alejandra Nangeyali, the proprietors of Union City-based Alfa Private Security, must pay $210,652 to workers they defrauded and $80,872 to the State Compensation Insurance Fund, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office said in a news release."
"During the four-year probe, prosecutors reviewed the company's compensation policies and financial records, as well as interviewed former employees who claimed they were not lawfully compensated for working regular and overtime hours. Through our joint efforts, over $200,000 will be returned to dozens of workers who were cheated out of their hard-earned income, District Attorney Ursula Jones Dickson said in a statement."
