""Individuals, businesses, and governments rely on the Postal Service to deliver over 100 million pieces of first-class mail daily," prosecutors argued in a sentencing memorandum, per the release. "Especially for the poorest Americans, who are often unbanked, they rely on the mail to deliver their government benefits in the form of Treasury checks or EDD debit cards, precisely what [Magdamit] chose to steal.""
"Under the Instagram handle @ yourfawkenmom, Magdamit posted photos flaunting $100 bills, luxury goods and her international travels. She also used stolen cards while in Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island, and the Turks and Caicos islands, a tropical archipelago just southeast of the Bahamas. According to November 2025 court papers, this was a method of advertising and selling the stolen checks and cards."
Mary Ann Magdamit, 31, stole checks and sensitive personal information from the Torrance Main Post Office from 2022 until July 2025 as a USPS mail carrier. She sold stolen checks and cards to co-conspirators and activated cards to make purchases, using an Instagram account @ yourfawkenmom to flaunt cash, luxury goods and international travel as advertising. She used stolen cards on trips to Aruba and the Turks and Caicos. Searches in December 2024 and on July 1, 2025, uncovered over 100 stolen debit and credit cards and several U.S. Treasury checks. She agreed to forfeit a Rolex and other luxury items and was sentenced to over five years in federal prison.
