"we have to get rid of you."
"I would have returned a not guilty verdict on all three charges."
"I regret the verdict,"
"Without the intimidation from other jurors, I believe that the jury would have hung on the Miriam Haley charge."
Two jurors who voted to convict Harvey Weinstein of a 2006 sexual assault charge later expressed regret and reported being bullied by other jurors. Weinstein's lawyers filed papers seeking to overturn his first-degree criminal sex act conviction, arguing the guilty verdict was tainted by threats, intimidation, and extraneous bias and that the judge failed to address the issue. Affidavits describe one juror being screamed at and told "we have to get rid of you," and another juror saying they would have voted not guilty on all charges if ballots had been secret. Weinstein was acquitted on a second criminal sex act charge and a mistrial was declared on a rape charge; prosecutors received a deadline to proceed.
