"an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women's Open category"
Jammie Booker was crowned winner of the Official Strongman Games World Championships on 23 November and was stripped of the title on 27 November after Strongman Corporation said it had been informed "an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women's Open category." Booker’s Instagram bio lists her as a personal trainer and professional strongwoman; Booker has not publicly stated whether she is cisgender or transgender. Andrea Thompson said she felt drained, expressed a desire to reach out to Booker as a human being, and said she was annoyed at perceived dishonesty that has brought a cloud over the sport. Thompson described the delayed recognition as the most exhausting experience of her career and said fellow competitors have faced insults, adding that "this needs to stop."
