A new California policy required cis girls to be scored separately from trans girls. The policy followed a partial ban on trans girls in school sports and a CIF pilot program that allowed certain “biological female” athletes to compete. As a result, she was forced to share three first-place victories with cisgender opponents who finished far behind her. Hernandez still won first place in multiple competitions under the new scoring structure.

He also threatened to permanently end federal funding to the state and asked local cops to stop her from competing. They didn't, and she ended up winning first place in two competitions."
"The result: Hernandez now gets scored separately from cis girls and cis boys, essentially competing alone in a separate category created only for trans girls. In Saturday's competition - the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section finals in"
