Trans swimmer's career ended for refusing gender test - LGBTQ Nation
"I have been swimming in sanctioned events for over 30 years, and I am prepared to let it all go,"
"My life and privacy have been invaded enough. It is time to prioritize my health and personal safety."
"The policy of US Masters Swimming, which allows men to compete in women's events, is reprehensible and could violate Texas's consumer protection laws,"
"The organization has cowered to radical activists pushing gender warfare, and it has deprived female participants of the opportunity to succeed at the highest levels by letting men win countless events,"
World Aquatics imposed a five-year ban on trans swimmer Ana Caldas for refusing an invasive and expensive gender verification test and stripped her results from June 2022 to October 2024. Caldas said she has swum in sanctioned events for over 30 years and is prepared to let it all go, citing invasions of life and privacy and a need to prioritize her health and personal safety. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into US Masters Swimming over policies allowing men to compete in women's events and called the policy potentially illegal. USMS introduced an interim policy aligning with World Aquatics that allows trans competitors by gender identity but bars them from recognition and medals. Paxton then sued USMS alleging the organization cowered to activists and deprived female participants of fair opportunity.
