Nguyen Huong Giang presented a white áo dài during the Miss Universe national costume showcase, walking with a bicycle and a conical hat bearing the Vietnam flag. The outfit fulfilled a dream she had not lived during her school years and served as a nod to Vietnamese youth and the shared cultural memory of heading to class. Giang is the only transgender contestant in this year’s lineup and has a background as a singer, model, and producer who first gained attention on Vietnam Idol. She is Vietnam’s first Miss International Queen and advocates for LGBTQ+ equality. Miss Universe 2025 takes place in Thailand from 2 to 21 November with 123 contestants.
