Workers began removing four rainbow crosswalks in San Antonio's Pride Cultural Heritage District after a district court judge denied a temporary injunction. The crosswalks were originally installed in 2018 with help from nonprofit Pride San Antonio. The removal follows Gov. Greg Abbott's October 8 order directing the Texas Department of Transportation to remove "any and all political ideologies" from streets. City officials announced plans to install rainbow sidewalk art to recognize and support the LGBTQ+ community.
