"Tucker Alden Kemp reportedly told the manager at a St. Petersburg, Florida, location that the Pride flag was offensive and should be replaced with an American flag. When the manager refused to remove the Pride flag, Lemp allegedly threw tea on it before tearing it off the wall, Fox 13 reported. The arrest affidavit states that the act caused $210 worth of damage to the wall and flag."
"The hateful act comes amid a relentless crusade from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ' (R) administration to eliminate Pride symbols across the state. DeSantis's Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has been on a mission to remove rainbow crosswalks, ordering local governments, including Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boynton Beach, and Key West, to remove pavement art "associated with social, political, or ideological messages." Some who have refused to comply have found the state sending in workers to remove the crosswalks anyway."
Thirty-one-year-old Tucker Alden Kemp entered a St. Petersburg Starbucks, told a manager the Pride flag was offensive, and demanded an American flag. When the manager refused, Kemp allegedly threw tea on the flag, tore it from the wall, and discarded it, causing $210 in damage. Kemp was arrested, released on a $500 bond, and charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief. Kemp is a father of a young daughter, a registered Republican, and a sales manager at a funeral home chain. The incident occurred amid Florida actions to remove Pride symbols, including FDOT orders and a July law banning pavement art.
