Pope to meet LGBTQ+ and women's equality group
Briefly

We Are Church International representatives will meet with Pope Leo XIV during the Holy Year events, specifically participating in the Jubilee of Synodal Teams from October 24-26, 2025. Founded in 1996, WAC advocates for reforms in the Roman Catholic Church aligning with the Second Vatican Council ideals. The group's goals include equality for women, laity, LGBTQ+ individuals, and married people. Their long-standing presence in Vatican discussions over 30 years signifies their commitment to initiating change, seen as a hopeful sign for the Church's future.
"We are committed to the renewal of the Roman Catholic Church based on the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and the theological spirit developed therefrom."
"Our patient work over 30 years... may have contributed to this. I also see the passage through the Holy Door as a sign for the Church as a whole: to leave mistakes behind and to set out again and again in Christian hope."
