Alan Chambers, former president of Exodus International, was arrested in Orlando, Florida, after a months-long investigation. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop. Investigators allege he sent sexually explicit messages to an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old boy and attempted to arrange a meeting. An affidavit reportedly includes messages exchanged via Snapchat and Telegram between February and May, along with an explicit image. Chambers allegedly used language about “forbidden love” and said he wanted the boy “so much,” and he is accused of asking to meet on April 10. During the stop, he admitted the accounts were his but did not discuss the conversations. He faces charges including solicitation of a minor via computer, transmission of material harmful to minors, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and is held without bond while investigators look for other victims.
"Alan Chambers, the former president of anti-gay organization Exodus International, was arrested this week for allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to and attempting to meet with an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old boy. The 54-year-old was taken into custody Tuesday during a traffic stop in Orlando, Florida, following a months-long investigation, the Orlando Sentinel reported."
"An affidavit obtained by the Orange County Sheriff's Office reportedly includes two pages of messages Chambers allegedly exchanged with the agent via Snapchat and Telegram between February and May of this year, along with a "picture of a white (male's) torso laying in bed where the end of their penis was visible." Chambers allegedly messaged the detective, whom he reportedly believed to be a minor, about "forbidden love" and said he wanted the boy "so much.""
"He is also accused of asking to meet with the undercover detective on April 10. During Tuesday's traffic stop, Chambers admitted that the Snapchat and Telegram accounts used to communicate with the detective were his, but did not discuss the conversations, according to the Sentinel. Chambers has been charged with solicitation of a minor via computer, transmission of material harmful to minors, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device."
"He is being held at the Orange County Jail without bond and is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office told the Sentinel that investigators are looking into whether there were other victims. The sheriff's office declared on social media that it had "stopped a predator before he had the chance to harm a child.""
