Members of the group told police at the scene that a man driving a dark SUV attempted to run them down multiple times at high velocity, sending the runners scrambling through trees looking for cover in a local park."
""He got into his car, pulled out, accelerating, pedal to the metal and coming right at me where I was standing," Galindo said. He and 40 other terrified runners fled for their lives. "Everybody came behind this tree that's right here and also this banyan tree right here to be in a safe spot," Galindo recounted. Monday night in West Palm Beach, Florida, members of an LGBTQ+ running club were targeted when a man driving a dark SUV attempted to run them down multiple times at high speed, sending runners scrambling through trees for cover. Treasurer Rudolph Galindo approached the man in the parking lot to ask if he was there for the group's run; the man appeared aggravated and denied it. The driver then accelerated toward Galindo and the group, forcing about 40 runners to flee behind trees.
