"We were expecting an awful lot more of people on the right-wing side of things critiquing the services [Anne Health] caters for trans youth. That's what we were preparing for,"
"I didn't expect the exact critique that came out of it but they've been really helpful. We've added clarification where clarification was needed ... It's a relatively new service in the grand scheme of things, so critique is really genuinely useful."
"tons of criticism"
Jude Howarth (F1NN5TER) donated a sizable portion of money to help Anne Healthcare during its early stages in 2024. The donation and its public announcement produced polarized responses within the trans community, with some praising the contribution to UK gender-affirming care and others criticizing Anne Health's paywalled membership model as expensive or exploitative. Anne Healthcare charges a £200 one-off setup fee and a sliding-scale monthly fee: £150 in year one, £100 in year two, and £50 thereafter. Membership covers support accessing medication, blood tests, health checks, counselling and ongoing care but excludes prescription costs. Howarth expected criticism from the right but was surprised by internal community critique and welcomed clarification.
