Drag Race star denies she's dead after sick online hoax: 'Shame on you'
"Fontaine made her Drag Race debut on season eight where she was eliminated third. Despite this she was crowned Miss Congeniality for her vibrant energy on the show. It's also understood that she had stage one undiagnosed liver cancer during the filming of season eight but is now in remission. Fontaine was then invited back for season nine and also competed in All Stars 10."
"Writing on Instagram, Fontaine said: "This is absolutely False. Very out of the place this 'page' did promoting fake news. Shame on you." Encouraging her followers to report the page Fontaine added: "My apologies to my family, loved ones and Cucu fans for the emotional distress this false posting has created. I'm grateful for all your love and support." Fellow Drag Race alum Detox said: "This is insane," while All Stars 8 winner Jimbo added: "Love you Sis.""
Cynthia Lee Fontaine denied a false claim that she had died and called out a fan site for promoting the hoax. She posted on Instagram that the report was absolutely false, urged followers to report the page, and apologized to her family, loved ones and fans for the emotional distress caused. Fellow Drag Race alumni expressed shock and support. Fontaine also posted that she is alive and stronger and called the fan site very irresponsible. Screenshots of the fake story circulated on Reddit, where users expressed disbelief. Fontaine previously competed on multiple Drag Race seasons and has had serious medical issues now in remission.
