Boy Scouts sue Queer Scout over its name and logo
"We're a small LGBTQ-owned travel company for adults, and our name clearly signals we're not affiliated with Scouting America or any youth scouting organisation. Scouting America said Queer Scout was diluting Boy Scouts' famous trademarks and falsely associating with Boy Scouts by using the word 'scout' in its name and having an image of a fox in its logo."
"Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote that the youth organisation has lost its way through an embrace of DEI and other social justice, gender-fluid ideological stances. The Department of War was close to agreeing to continue its partnership with Scouting America as long as the organisation rapidly implements the common-sense, core value reforms. They are on the clock, and we are watching."
Scouting America filed a lawsuit against Arizona-based Queer Scout, an LGBTQ travel company offering adult tours in Colombia, claiming trademark infringement and false association through use of the word 'scout' and animal imagery in branding. Queer Scout founder Sam Holdren disputed the allegations, asserting the company's name clearly distinguishes it as an adult travel business unaffiliated with youth scouting. The litigation coincides with Pentagon threats to cut Scouting America's funding over its diversity, equality, and inclusion policies. Pentagon officials publicly criticized the organization for embracing what they termed 'DEI and gender-fluid ideological stances,' demanding rapid implementation of 'core value reforms' while monitoring compliance.
