"" praying for everybody.""
"Bird added that women's sports teaches athletes there are "ways to change a public narrative." just as being queer shapes one's perception of the world."
Athlete activism has surged after the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. Queer women, particularly in professional women's sports, are central leaders of renewed protests and public statements. Pro female athletes have outpaced male counterparts in speaking against Tr*mp and the MAGA movement, driven by demographic political gaps and willingness to confront injustice despite pressure to remain neutral. Examples include Anthony Edwards offering only "praying for everybody" and stronger responses from figures like Cheryl Reeve. At least 35 pro athletes and coaches have criticized ICE and CBP tactics; four are queer women and nine are affiliated with the WNBA. Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe addressed Pretti's slaying on their podcast.
