Haith said that remark revealed her sexual orientation to the world and left her feeling she was in 'danger.' Haith said she expected producers to consult her about how to handle the revelation but that did not happen. Viewers reacted with anger online, criticizing Banks and the show for carelessly outing and humiliating Haith. Haith also described further distress during a makeover when stylists laughed while attempting to shave her short hair.
