Alfie Smith, performing as ESME Doll, is celebrated as Bristol's youngest drag queen. At age 16, he attended his school prom in a Barbie-inspired outfit, reflecting his journey of self-expression. Inspired by the musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Alfie experienced initial nerves but was encouraged by a warm reception. He received support from Orchard School Bristol and praised for his courage. With backing from his parents in creating his look, Alfie emphasized the positive impact of drag on his identity and confidence throughout his life.
Even if I only inspired one person that night, that is enough for me.
This reaction caused my nerves to fully go and confirmed to me that I went in drag for me and because I love this side of myself.
ESME DOLL is probably the biggest contributing factor to who I am today.
Drag has helped me massively, and I cannot thank the art form enough.
