When Bob and Renee Nunn married and...
"The Nunns have finished building the biggest Victorian house they have ever seen, although they are quick to say that it's a Queen Anne on the outside only. It's 'a modern California home on the inside,' meaning no small, dark rooms; and nothing but up-to-date conveniences, including what Bob terms his 'contribution': a control system for the whole house."
"During the project, which took more than three years, she was assisted by Brian Lerman and Marlene Ayerle of Artistic Residential Creations, and Mike and Brian Iverson of Iverson Construction. All are based in Camarillo."
"The team had so much fun building this house that the Nunns decided to sell it and build another. 'We enjoy the process,' she said. Although the couple had renovated their many homes through the years, they had never built a house."
Bob and Renee Nunn fulfilled their long-held dream of building a Victorian house after seeing them during their San Francisco honeymoon. The couple constructed a 10,200-square-foot Queen Anne-style home on 20 acres in Hidden Valley near Thousand Oaks over three years. The house combines Victorian exterior aesthetics with modern California interior design, featuring no small dark rooms and contemporary conveniences. Bob, a technology executive, installed a smart home control system managing spa heating, security, climate, and music throughout the property. Renee directed color schemes and design details with assistance from local design and construction professionals. The project proved so enjoyable that the Nunns decided to sell the completed home and build another, having never constructed a house before despite renovating multiple properties.
