"In addition to the redone exterior, the elevators and building systems, including the plumbing, will be replaced. The building has 15 tower floors and seven levels of parking, with 314,000 square feet of office and retail space."
"A $21-million make-over of Westwood Center is underway to reposition the aging office building in the tight Westwood office market as a competitor with newer properties."
Westwood Center, a 22-story office building constructed in 1965, is undergoing a $21 million renovation to enhance its competitiveness in the Westwood office market. The project, completed in December 1999, replaces the building's concrete facade with silver blue-gray glass floor-to-ceiling windows and adds an illuminated upturned metal canopy on the penthouse. Interior upgrades include replacement of elevators and building systems such as plumbing. The 314,000-square-foot structure contains 15 office floors and seven parking levels. Developer Arden Realty Inc. purchased the property at 1100 Glendon Avenue. The building, originally designed by Paul Williams, is known for housing Monty's Steakhouse in its penthouse.
