Son Heung-min debuted for LAFC, impacting the match by winning a late penalty as they drew 2-2 with Chicago Fire. He joined LAFC from Tottenham for a reported MLS-record fee. After Chicago initially took the lead, Son helped level the game with his penalty, awarded after VAR review. Following the match, he expressed disappointment at not securing a win but noted he was pleased with his performance and ready to contribute further. He aims to start in the next game and is focused on building momentum in training.
"It was a great pass and there was definitely contact and it was definitely a penalty, no doubt about it," Son said after the match.
"A bit disappointed not getting three points but I think everybody put in a lot of effort, happy I made my debut and I hope the goals come soon."
"I'm getting ready and it was a decent 30 minutes in my legs getting ready for next week," he added.
"So we'll see how I progress in the training sessions and with the players and we'll see if next week I can start the game and make a big impact."
