"Their penthouse, a two-level condominium, has two bedrooms, a bonus room, a fireside family room and a living room, where he can play his grand piano while gazing at their 180-degree view of the ocean. The 3,250-square-foot townhouse is one of the largest of the 22 condos at El Tovar by the Sea."
Les Brown, clarinetist-saxophonist and leader of Les Brown and His Band of Renown, one of the last major swing bands, has moved with his wife Claire into a two-level penthouse condominium in Santa Monica. The 3,250-square-foot townhouse features two bedrooms, a bonus room, a fireside family room, and a living room with a grand piano overlooking 180 degrees of ocean view. Located at El Tovar by the Sea, a renovated 1920s hotel converted into luxury condominiums, the property offers concierge and maintenance services. The Browns sold their 39-year family home in Pacific Palisades for over $2 million. Brown's band continues performing approximately 10 dates annually and recently released two albums of classic standards and big band hits.
